"I've taken to stopping over in New York on a Saturday night to take in a Broadway, when traveling from Europe to the US on business. Staying at the West Side YMCA Hostel has twice now been a good experience. The Hostel is on Broadway, and a 20 minute walk, or one or two NY Metro stops, to most Broadway or Off-Broadway theaters. "

"(+) - Great location. It is near the metro station, bus stop, convenience store (CVS), and bank. - The room is clean and the air conditioner is cool. - The beds are ok. We had a good night sleep. - There is drinking water in the kitchen. We can cook our food there or make tea. - The area is ok. It’s pretty quiet at night so my little one can sleep well. (-) The receptionist was very late. We arrived at 3pm for check-in and the receptionist was not there. We were very tired and wanted to rest but have to waiting until around 6pm. Luckily the room was ready and clean when we checked-in."

"Small, basic with very few amenities. Mostly clean. Excellent location for Chinatown, soho and easy to access metro. Rooms very small and wouldn’t recommend for families. No amenities like coffee or tea making facilities and certainly no room for a fridge or any other frills! Steep stairs with no lift which is tough with heavy luggage! Having said that, was great value and good area. Lots of cheap(and great!) eats and coffee/breakfast available in shop across the road. Recommended if you don’t mind roughing it a bit."

"for a one night stay, this was not a bad lodging option. staying in new york can cost a ridiculous amount of money just for the hotel. the bowery grand, while not grand at all was better than exepected. the room if you want to call it that, was actually the size of a long closet. it was the bare minimum, a twin bed and a tv that did not work at all but at least it was decently clean and there was no wait at all for the bathrooms. the subway is only a block and a half away which was really convenient. if you're looking for a place just for sleeping then this is definitely a viable option for those on a tight budget."
