Excellent apartment with parking in a great location - ruined by the concierge.”

Things I like

Excellent apartment beautifully presented. A very comfortable bed. Clean and well equipped kitchen area. The reserved parking space is directly in front of the main door. Very good location on an island in the Seine within easy walking distance of the city centre (also a bus is available) and two minutes from fresh bread - perfect!

Things I don’t like

The arrival! We followed the instructions given to us to the letter. We sent our arrival time by text to the concierge the night before confirming 15:00. When we arrived there was no one there. We were let into the building by a neighbour and even went up to the apartment a rang the door bell. We waited patiently but no one arrived. We sent an SMS to the concierge saying we had arrived but received no reply. Left message on Booking at 15:20. Continued to phone the concierge 8 times with no answer - voice mail left. Phoned x2 another number on Booking and left messages due to no reply. Contacted Booking but just allowed to leave message. We were stranded, in an information vacuum, and started looking for a hotel for the night. Eventually the message was replied to at 16:10 saying they would be there in 10 minutes but arrived 20 minutes later. Whereupon she blamed us for not contacting her - appalling! Our worst arrival / concierge experience ever with Booking. The concierge can make or break the experience - here she broke it. We had to cancel our plans for that night as we were emotionally exhausted.

Very good room, very bad experience in collecting keys.”

Things I like

Let's make it clear. The house is in a very good location, parking place available, and the facilities in the house are top notch.

Things I don’t like

It was the worst experience in collecting the keys from our whole trip of 20 days. There was a sequence of messages concerning the reception. It changed from defining a precise hour of arrival - which we did - to the need to drive around 2kms away from the location to collect the keys from a lock box. Our contact (maybe the owner) did not manage to get someone to meet us in the location so we had to extract all the needed information from him. Address of the lock box, number of parking place, we had to guess by trial which of the 4 or 5 keys were to be used. The whole process took us about 1 hr.

Convenient location but badly let down by concierge”

Things I like

Could park up car right outside apartment block and walk or take convenient bus into old town. Butchers, bakers, convenience store and friendly local bar close by.

Things I don’t like

Had to walk 25 minutes across an unfamiliar city to collect keys from a key box as concierge decided, at short notice, she couldn't meet us at apartment because 'traffic is disrupted due to numerous works'. Beware these works and road closures around the bridge are going to be going on for many months! We were given absolutely no instructions as to how to find the apartment, or which of the four keys and fob we collected from the key box opened the door to the apartment - or even the block!
