Where to stay in Hunan Province
Hunan Province hotels & accommodations
If it weren't for the customer service manager Bob Naresh, I would have given customer service a 2 for effort. The hotel is not geared to Englislh-speaking travelers. The concierge can hail a taxi, but that's about it (in English). We gave up asking them for advice, guidance or information. Even translators did not work for either sides. Very nice facilities. Very...
location is not far from center of town, room is quite big, amazing view around the hotel, jogging track also nice, room facilities is top, comfortable bed and pillows, staff is friendly and some of them speaks english and very helpful, will definitely stay there again next time in changsha, for family with young children we just need kids playroom, usually other 5 sta...
We has a nice stay here. It's a great location very close to the park - there are no lines to get in from the entrance on this side. Make sure to ask the hotel staff to give you a pager so they can pick you up from the park when you're done for the day. The park itself is very confusing to get around, and we didn't realize until day 2 that they had a map in the hotel r...
We arrived almost midnight by airport shuttle bus, alighting at drop-off point at Hunan Civil Aviation Hotel. Turn right, walk about 10 mins is Changsha Mellow Orange Hotel. The room is clean, white bedsheets. No refrigerator in room. Breakfast is very basic. Fried noodles, soupy noodles, salted preserved vegetables, soya bean drink. To the right of hotel, is a MacDona...
The hotel lobby is magnificent and the room is clean with nice view. Breakfast is great with good service.
Our stay was overall nice. The hotel is really beautiful, being a resort the rooms are separated from the lobby. 5/6 rooms for bungalow. Nicely decorate and huge space. We went in winter so there were not many people. It was low season. Rooms were clean and beutifully decorated. The hotel is rated 5 stars, but if you have experience of hotels in China, you understa...
You can be assured of Kempinski hotel standard. The rooms are very typical of a 5 star international hotel, very well kept and modern. Service here is good and the staffs are extremely friendly. The elements restaurant is pretty standard but was a bit disappointed with the spread as when I went to the restaurant at around 1.40 pm for a late lunch, most of the buffet sp...
The moment we stepped into the lobby, we knew this was an experience. Elegant, smiling Chinese hospitality we had not been able to experience in both Anting Villa Resort and Pullman Shanghai , warm and welcoming, helpful explanations. The room is a spacious 50 sqm, luxuriously comfortable with bedding amenities of 4 pillows each on 2 queen sized beds. In the morning ...
We asked for non-smoking room but they gave us one with very strong cigarette smell. When we rang the counter they changed our room quickly, and even bigger than the first one. Breakfast was excellent, with a large selection of both western and eastern foods. Staff are very friendly, especially the lady manager who was on duty at night (sorry I did not get her name)....
We were unlucky that at the moment the streets around the hotel are all being re-built, however the location of the hotel is excellent. Despite the state of the roads outside, the hotel was very clean and the staff helpful. Wulingyuan is being upgraded but I still think that staying there is a much better idea than heading to Zhangjiajie city.
Beautiful hotel, good amenities, attentive staff, good value. Convenient by taxi, not by foot/subway.
we only stayed one night while visiting my son who is volunteering to teach english in hunan provence. he is located in zhuzhou and wanted to show us changsha city while visiting. this hotel was clean, friendly, warm, and very well located. it had all the western amenities you needed. there was a communication breakdown with the front desk. i had paid for an extra...
Beautifully designed and a comfortable stay
Comfortable hotel with helpful staff, but room is pity small. Situated in the city center, this hotel is close to many tourist attraction like Helong Stadium, Hunan Provincial Museum, Martyr's Park and Orange Island Park. Shopping centers and restaurants are within walking distance, Changsa main railway staion can easily reach by many public buses and taking a taxi is...
50 meters from MRT station. Hotel entrence right below Agricultural Bank of China. Next to Carrefour hypermark, 1 stop away from 五一广场 where you can find many decent shopping malls and eateries. Overall, clean room, comfortable bed and pleasant environment.
The location of the hotel was convenient as it was close to the cable car station and there are bus stops right opposite the hotel. However, the Executive Queen Room I stayed in did not have any air conditioning service as the hotel staff said their air conditioning system was centralized and they would not turn them on in Spring. I had to request for an electric fan a...
The hotel is conveniently located. Although the facilities are a bit old (e.g. swimming pool), we enjoyed our three-night stay there. The breakfast is quite good.
This was one of my best stays on many trips in China. Check in took a little long but staff was very friendly and the room more than made up for it. Had a good view from the room, bed was very comfortable and there was a bathtub in the bathroom. Hands down best gym I have ever seen in a hotel, well equipped and big with a swimming pool. Staff is very well trained. Grea...
spacious room and good cleanliness. conceirge staff particularly Sven offers excellent service and advice.
I actually wrote my review on this hotel 40 minutes after check out but somehow I don't understand its not publish and not in my draft too. Actually I don't have patience to immediately wrote because I love this hotel very much. It's the most luxurious hotel in Zhangjiajie. I never thought the room is so beautiful, Luxurious and cozy. All amenities were high end, the...
The hotel location is very convenient yet quiet (we got the room with balcony to the other side of noisy nightlife places). The room was surprisingly clean. We got the room with 2 balconies, cute tiny living room and standard sized bedroom. The bathroom was clean. No shower gel, shampoo.. but I guess this is general practice in Chinese hotels. During our 9 days travel ...
The Hotel is within the heart of Furong, Sheraton Changsha Hotel is an Excellent Hotel which is very near to MRT station. Travelling by MRT was the way i did my traveling to do shopping and visit many interesting places in Changsha but occasionally need to take a Taxi to reach some places in Changsha. This was my first trip to Changsha and overnight stay was very good...
very nice large and comfortable room. the only tiny niggle was the noise the air conditioning made even on low. the staff were excellent and you got the impression they had been well trained to be as helpful as possible. it is near the forest park gate but a 200 rmb taxi ride from the airport at zhangjiajie. i would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to othe...
Modern suites, tasteful decor and simply decadent! Loved it!
The hotel is well located near to the Wulingyuan park entrance. There are more modern hotels that are probably flashier at a higher price, but we were happy with our stay at the State Guest Hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and well-equipped, although the corridors were run down and dimly lit. Breakfast was Chinese-style buffet and there were few people there so...
Very frustrating
This hotel should be called hotel weiwei as she runs the show ! she was on reception all the time and did an amazing job - checking guests in and out, solving any issues...advising on where to go, what to do and even help me with my chinese language. She single handedly deserves the 5 stars ! Beyond her, the location was great and easily accessible to everything. My o...
WE REACHED CHANGSHA IN THE LATE NIGHT. THE TAXI BROUGHT US TO THIS HOTEL WHICH I BOOKED IN AGODA WITH A PROMOTION PRICE. THE ROOM WAS SPACIOUS TO ACCOMODATE 4 OF US. THE STAFFS WERE SO FRIENDLY AND SO HELPFUL. I WAS GLAD TO FIND NICE STAFFS FOR 5 STARS HOTEL. USUALLY THE STAFFS FOR THIS KIND OF HOTEL ARE ARROGANT. BUT THESE GROUP ARE SO FRIENDLY ... IT WAS UNFORTUNATE ...
I truly enjoyed my stay at the White Swan. The hotel itself is fantastic. It is definitely a 4 Star hotel, and the staff goes above and beyond to provide value. Every need I had, they found a way to meet. Language was definitely a barrier, as this hotel is not located in downtown Changsha and they do not get too many English-speaking guests. However, they would always ...
Stayed here for two nights, and it was absolutely amazing. The location was breathtaking, a short bit away from town. The owners were super helpful with everything from where we should go and fixing us a driver, to serving food customized to our diets and schedule. The room and view I believe is the best in Zhangjiajie and I would absolutely recommend it!
Cheap places to stay in Hunan Province
The guy is really helpful, he can recommend you specialty dishes there. The place is also clean.
First of all, it is very difficult to find the place. There are no signs outside the building. The second problem is that the hostel is behind two doors with a code. In order to talk to the owner of the hostel, you have to get past the first door. The owner lives on the 1st floor and you have to knock on the door on the right. The door to the actual hostel is on the 2n...
the hotel located in 5mins walk to town easy find local places for food and drink but it is 2.5km distance to wulingyuan park. Owner very helpful I was help to plan travel trip in the park even they cannot speak English. it's lovely place to stay
Carol is the only one that speaks english, and she is absolutely great: she speaks really good english and she will help you to prepare your route in the national park perfectly well. The problem is that they have another hostel too, so when Carol is not there, everything gets complicated because the others doesn't speak any english and they are not really helpful (onl...
Good
It was very nice, people are helpful there, they gave me a map and information about National park. I can definitely recommend this hostel.
Very convenient location
Pro: Clean and large room. Shower separate from the toilet. King size bed. Nice staff but no english Con: It’s in the middle of the city, but not close to train station nor attraction
Arrived near midnight and was able to check-in without issue (was with my gf who is from China so communication wasn't a problem. Didn't get to see how the English was). Service staff was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed help with such as replacing the TV remote batteries to figuring out the water heater. Room was fairly basic but good sized; same wi...
Chen is the only staff who can speak English. Warm and friendly. This time renovated room on 4th floor - Good!
Hotel was easy to find, could see the building from the street. Room was clean, soap and towels provided. Only minor inconvenience was the front desk staff had very poor English. Otherwise, we would stay again.
No one speaks English at this hotel. They rely upon a voice translator app on their I-phone which isn't very good. Also, most of the rooms have squat toilets but their pictures show you western toilets. So I was surprised when I checked in and they did not have a western toilet room available. They did, however, move me to a better room the next day. This hotel also ...
This fantastic guesthouse is located in lovely location near the western entrance to the national park. The rooms are very nice, with a wooden interior and modern bathroom. The Inn is co-owned by a very kind couple who live there with their family. The husband is an excellent cook and there is a menu with delicious, reasonably priced food available. He also offers ride...

High Speed train from Guangzhou to CHANGSA . From Changsa bus trip to Zhangjiajie. Abt 4 hours. JJ inn situated in busy part of town. Foods and Banks available within walking distance. Dusty surrounding and smoke smell hotel room. Price reasonable. Far fron HS train station. Bus 159 to nearby hotel. Take a taxi from here ( about 45min) to hotel. From hotel ...
Hotel was fine, to stay for a night. Only thing no airconditioning only a central heating / cooling, But you need to know If you set the tempature at 20 for example it Will be heating because of the central system instead of cooling.
Great location near Changsha railway station and subway. Typical 7 Days Inn room, basic, but with hairdryer, toiletries, the etc. But BEWARE the location is wrong on the map! We followed the map and it takes you to a dodgy part of town, Agoda needs to change it ASAP! We ended up going to about 5 different 7 day inns before finding the right one. The written address is ...
If you want to go to Avatar mountain for days in and out, this hotel is the best for you. Because the location is 150m from Yangjiajie ticketing office. But this hotel is not in Wulingyuan. To go to Wulingyuan you need to book taxi around 200 RMB. so please consider your itinerary to choose your hotel to avoid transportation fee. You can choose stay in this hotel 2 day...
The hotel is located in a narrow alley opposite a police station. The lock was not working for my room. It is within walking distance to the railway station but you will have to cross a bridge which might be a hassle for tourists with huge luggages. Guess I can’t be expecting too much for the price.
I only stayed 1 night at this hotel. Room is new, clean and spacious. Hotel is near the train station and direct bus to Yueyang scenic area. It looks like there is no one can speak English there.
The Encounter Inn is very centrally located right on the scenic river. It is in the middle of the sightseeing area and is very charming. The hotel is comfortable and has everything you need for your stay.
We arrived late at night and the staff is very helpful. The room is okay and the location is very near the west bus station.
Once we finally arrived to Tongfu after a hiccup with our pick up from the train station, everything was great! The lady who runs the Inn is so so so lovely!! she doesn't speak English but manages to communicate through a book with key phrases and information written down. She helped us get a great deal with our cable car passes and cooked us the most glorious food the...
Great Dong-style building with comfortable, clean room (bed on softer side for China, nice balcony, definitely nicer than a hostel but not luxurious). In an amazing location, close walking distance to wind-and-rain bridge and the Dong villages. The owner spoke English was very helpful in arranging our transportation both ways from the train station. The food was some o...
Not a very good location, about 30 minutes walk to the main entrance to the park, cheap, I recommend
This was my first trip to Zhangjiajie and the proprietor of the Wind and Wood Inn/张家界风居住的森林民宿 did his absolute best to make my stay memorable. When I arrived at the Wulingyuan Scenic Area ticket station I was a little confused so I gave the Inn's boss a call and he promptly messaged me an itinerary for the day that maximized the sights I could visit along the way to th...
We are travelling through ASIA and we rate this Hotel as it's best in China and top 3 in 4 months time. Even though the staff speaks only basic english we communicate very well with translating helpful guests or our book or tablet. Top bedding and Internet connection for asia and china, not those typical hard beds. Bathroom exceptional clean and top shower. Try the cos...
good location
lack of english staff friendly great breakfast 18 yuan to hotel guests

I loved staying at this hotel. I was upgrade to a suite for free. It was huge. Staff was efficient and so friendly. Hotel is clean and in the perfect location to the rail station and Tianmen Shan cableway. I am returning to Zhangjiajie next month. Will definitely be staying at this hotel again.
Good hotel room was nice . Could not get aircon to work (26c in room) Beds are very hard, maybe a local thing but not liked by us. Buffet was excellent value, huge selection of food. BUT a long way from the High Speed train station, 45 min in taxi.
The location and comfort was above the level of my expectation. Just that the restaurant food were not really up to standard and in fact consider bad. And the staff wasn't friendly in welcoming guests. Others were good. Another comment is that i was wondering when i pay so much for the hotel, the hotel cannot even provide us with internet access wifi where by other ...
Really nice hotel, nice clean rooms, staff were not the best but ok
It was a good European break in a Chinese atmosphere
Hotel duty manager Ms Zhou was super nice and friendly. We check in late and rooms we booked have fully occupied, manager give us free upgrade to rooms at business level. She also provide many travelling trips to place of interest. My room is very nice and in decent size, carpet is old and a lot of stains, toilet and bath room glass panel door water leak out to to...
Nice B&B located near the park west entrance (Yangjiajie). Lucas is the best host ever, helped us plan our 2 days in the park. We entered the park from Wulingyuan entrance on day 1, reaching Yangjiajie entrance at night, and went back to Wulingyuan on day 2. King room has the best view on 2nd floor (AND ROUND BED).
We came there on a very rainy night. The room was beautiful and clean and very comfortable beds. The staff brought us a heater as we were a bit cold. In the hotel was an excellent Chinese restaurant with interesting food choices. A waiter helped us walk through the gallery that showed the foods and we chose a tasty variety. As we had to leave the next morning very early...
the location is near the train station. room is big and clean, very comfort. staff are friendly and helpful, the food is normal, but no restaurants nearby, taxi to urban area about 15 mins
condition of room is new,well-maintained and comfortable.it's quite near to the city centre (by bus) and there's a bus stop nearby.there's also an english-speaking manager from beijing that assisted us throughout our journey. Her name is Linda Lee.She helped us find an affordable tour around zhangjiajie (chinese language).not only that, she also made sure that we were al...
We arrived after booking online through Agoda. The front receptionist had a lot of trouble locating our booking and could not believe we had booked ourselves online, it took a couple of staff our taxi driver our ipad translator and another guest for us to be booked in which is not what we needed after an overnight train trip. Most of the staff were helpful during ...
this was my second visit to china, and my stay at the wu hua hotel made it my besy yet. the hotel was all that i had hoped with good facilities including internet access, freindly smiling staff. although not too central that was not an issue as all worthwhile places of interest including the museums and parks were within walking distance.
My wife and I spent two nights here in June 2016. Before we ever got to the hotel, we had excellent E-Mail exchanges with the manager, Mr. Zhu. We were coming to Zhangjiajie from Yichang, and he was very helpful with information on how to make connections to the train, and on the advantages of train vs. bus or chartered car travel. It seemed not to matter what time of ...
the gold source hotel is the best hotel in changsha, i have stayed in most of the 4 and 5 star hotels. it has the nicest rooms, the nicest staff, the best food, the best of everything. it even has baker, the bellboy who speaks fluent english and can help you with anything! when i return, i will stay here.
Difficult stay at an International Hotel where nobody at reception speaks English. ???? For a 4 star international hotel I would expect at least one person to speak English. This 4 star International hotel also excepts no international credit cards for payment or deposit. So if you stay as I for a long period this money must first be withdrawn from an ATM which has its...
The room is newly renovated, as such, not much to complain. Breakfast is provided and nothing outstanding as it is a chinese style breakfast. For dinner, just walk out of hotel, turn right and there is another hotel with many local dish to choose from in the restaurant, worth the try.
Close to airport - from 6.30am: 35 minutes from hotel door, airline checkin, security, and through immigration- good breakfast, friendly staff, adequate English.
overall very nice hotel, beautiful interior, superb bed, but staff speaks very little English, no wi-fi available
The hotel is good with clean and tidy room, however most of the hot springs are not hot enough. The travel within the national park is poor, if prior booking is not made, you cannot visit one of the spot.
I took taxi to the hotel from bus terminal, and has to pull our luggage across the river and walk some distance to reach the hotel. The breakfast was horrible and drink is tasteless, but could not complain much at the rate we paid for. Have to walk at least 15 minutes to Phoenix Ancient Town, but not much to see with expansive entrance ticket as the is too new to call ...
the hotel was pretty standard. it was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was pleasant enough. the maid staff comes and cleans it up every 30 minutes, and then it repeats.
location is good. walkable place to downtown. night desk workers are very kind. they can't speak english well but if you can speak chinese it's no problem. but they can't check for the payment. i paid already but they said not. it took do long time to check it. the hotel manager she even didn't sorry to me. it's disappointed so much. it feels so bad.
Location a bit far from city . Need a bit of walking for breakfast and supper
Tina was an excellent host. We arrived at the hotel around 2am and she was waiting for our arrival and very welcoming and accommodating. She help us organised number of tours during our stay. Very good location, close to most popular places such as Zhangjiajie National Park, Grand Canyon & Glass Bridge.
It is very close to the Tianmen Mountain. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
I really enjoyed my stay here, the owner ensured the whole stay was very pleasant. I needed to reach the airport at 6am and the owner was willing to drive me there personally at 530am. Breakfast was a home cooked noodles, overall I really enjoyed my stay.

I chose this hotel since it was the closest to the airport. The taxi driver had difficulty finding the hotel since it was new (the hotel was new, definitely not the surrounding area). I ended paying double the fare. Upon arriving I was greeted by a friendly and attentive staff. Had difficulty checking in since they could not find my Agoda reservation. The receptionist ...
The hotel is very impressive. Perfect cleaning. Beautiful and well equipped rooms The pool is not heated, so you can not enter (water in early September is already cold) The food is not suitable for Europeans at all. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the gate to the hotel entrance if you do not have a private car
Lovely resort like hotel. Very quiet setting. Good value and near University that we were visiting. Only problem was finding food at day time off hours. Absolutely no western type food offered in the hotel. English was not spoken and even getting a taxi proved a challenge.
had a really nice time. I was traveling to Zhangjiajie for the first time and I was really nervous because it's a small place and I wanted to see the best way to see everything. the hotel staff was really helpful and their services were impeccable. the treated is like family. they showed us the map of national Forest Park and guided us on the routes to take. helped is ...
This is the hotel I always stay at whenever I visit to Changsha
Spacious room, new facilities, quiet, value for money Downside was the traffic there was so jammed due to big construction going on at the main road.
The Country Garden Phoenix Hotel Changsha is a grand and extensive complex. Spend half a day just exploring all the corners of this opulent display of grandiosity. However, despite the huge rooms, international TV stations, enormous bed etc, it is very tired and showing signs of poor maintenance. A walk along any corridor will reveal peeling wallpaper, rising damp and ...
Probably the largest building in Zhangjiajie, only a couple of miles from the airport, and about a 10 min walk to the cable car station. Very clean hotel I couldn't really fault it. My only negative would be no one speaks English, and it's best to take a English/Chinese translation device with you. Check in and check out are no hassle tho.
Better than the famous hotel (Marina Bay Sands) in Singapore, but much cheaper. Breakfast included. If u have a car or anyone can pick u up, it's a good choice. The problem is the location, which is too far from shopping area.
Pleasant, very friendly and helpful staff. Room is clean, cleaned every day.
