At arrival my reservation was not informed to the hotel by Agoda. So it depended on the guy on the front desk and he really helped me get through it. At check out the hotel wasn’t able to refund my deposit. I’ve read many reviews saying the same thing. Something as simple as that nowadays, returning your money back to your card they weren’t able to do it. So it looks to me that there is something malicious about this. “The saystem” didn’t work out. At every hotel in the world your card is not charged with this item. It is only used as a guarantee. But still at OYO Times Square they proceeded to make the payment and then weren’t able to refund it. BE ALERT ON THIS.

We had a wonderful 3-day stay at OYO Times Square. The location was perfect for exploring the city, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed for a relaxing stay. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would happily stay here again

“Location is great ”
The location is great, right in Times Square. Can walk to anything around pretty quickly. Cleanliness was an issue for us. The bathroom was not cleaned properly. There were repairs that needed done-spackle on walls, the blinds were usable but broken. Room is very small which is not a deal breaker because you barely spend time in there. Staff was helpful and friendly. The worst part was the noise. It was very difficult to sleep because there does not seem to be any barrier to outside. Sounded like the traffic; sirens, honking and trucks were right outside the window. It is very noisy, all night long. I have stayed in other hotels in the area and did not have this noise factor. While the location was great, we would choose another hotel next time we are staying in the area.

“Rich is the best!”
At check-in, the staff upgraded us to a room with a larger bed! So we were quite comfortable. When I mentioned there was no hairdryer at the front desk, they brought one to our room. There was no kettle or coffee maker (just instant coffee), and no water available. The bathroom could be a bit cleaner in some areas, but it was very convenient as it is located right in the middle of Times Square, so I would recommend it for those who prioritize location!

“Security Deposit Never Refunded”
I stayed at OYO Times Square, New York from Dec 23 to Dec 26. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. At check-in, the reception demanded a $***security deposit. I offered to pay cash, which was refused. I was told they only accept cards. When my card was charged, I noticed they deducted $*** instead of $***. The staff casually claimed this extra amount was a “service charge” and said this was “normal.” I have stayed in multiple hotels across the US and have never encountered this practice. It has now been over one month, and no security deposit has been refunded. Attempts to resolve this: Emails: No response at all Phone calls: Staff repeatedly claim they have no record of my booking, despite having a valid booking reference, and then disconnect the call Agoda support: Agoda confirmed they attempted to contact the property multiple times but received no response from the hotel The front desk staff were hostile and intimidating, not helpful. Any question about the refund was met with dismissive behavior, raised voices, and bullying tactics rather than customer service. What makes this worse is that after my stay, I found numerous similar complaints online describing: Inflated “security deposits” No refunds Property denying bookings afterward Complete lack of accountability In my experience, this hotel’s deposit handling appears deliberately opaque and misleading. I strongly recommend avoiding this property unless you are comfortable risking your money and spending weeks chasing a refund that may never come. I am posting this review to warn future guests and to document my experience publicly, since private communication has failed entirely. Avoid this hotel.
