We love walking, so we found a budget-friendly accommodation in a great location in the city center. The amenities and facilities may be outdated due to it being an older hotel, but the basic cleanliness, bedding, and water pressure in the bathroom were all very good, and there were a Starbucks and McDonald's right in front, making it easy to grab a quick breakfast. It was also enjoyable to start each day by seeing the Empire State Building right outside! Additionally, there is a train station (Penn Station) right next door, making it convenient to travel with luggage to places like Boston. I highly recommend it for those visiting New York who are looking for budget-friendly accommodations and who enjoy walking a lot!

“Great location, watch out for sneaky extra charges”
We had a good stay at the New Yorker. It’s got an impressive foyer but quite dated rooms. It’s had one too many cheap makeovers and tiles in the bathrooms have been sprayed over too many times so now they’re peeling and look tatty. Good air con, comfy beds and fabulous views from some rooms. Ideal for MSG and Penn Station. Rooms have no kettles or coffee machines, they do have lots of towels, an ice bucket, iron and hairdryer. Ice machines on each floor. Hotel feels secure with checks done before anyone enters the lifts. Area felt quite safe, lots of places to eat, get coffee etc. metres away from Macy’s and Penn station had lots of eateries and a nice pub for evening drinks. We would go again but check the prices for ‘facilities’ charges and crazy extras like $50 per day for a coffee machine! This did spoil our experience somewhat. Check in queue was insane, after travelling you don’t want that. Overall we had a good stay.
