A cool location in a... 'unique' part of town. ”
My wife and I stayed for four nights and really enjoyed it. The location is conveniently located near a main subway station, down the street from a handful of attractions and market streets. Note: We were not prepared for the amount of "adult shops" that lined the street and initially had a difficult time finding the entrance, however, once we got our bearings, it was great.)

Great Hotel, Comfy Bed, Pleasant Helpful Staff”
Le Chat Noir is a great little hotel in the Monmartre area of Paris. Extremely friendly staff that helped us with anything we needed. The rooms are very clean and actually quite big for Paris. The bed was one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever slept in and it had the best, biggest shower. The area is by the strip clubs and shops so maybe not recommended if you have children. But it's a great area and once you start walking up the hilly streets you'll find great cafes, restaurants and boutique clothing shops. I would definitely recommend Le Chat Noir.

Nice hotel, basic but modern”
Le Chat Noir uis well placed to see the Sacre Coeur and has good links to the metro, 4 stops from Gare du Nor station so convienent for Eurostar travellers. I searched for Monmatre, but the htoel is closer to Pigalle which is the red light district of Paris. We never felt unsafe but there were plenty of sex shops and strip bars nearby so if you take your kids, prepare for some interesting questions. The room was nice, compact and clean with a view and a big flat screen telly (CBS, BBC news Sky news etc). Very comfortable bed. No tea and coffee making facilities. We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment. Staff were very friendly and helpful, reception manned 24 hours. We would definitely go back.

Great staff, great rooms but a few things wrong”
The Chat Noir is a really nice hotel, however, my girlfriend and I stayed on the 1st Floor (room 101) which is situated adjacent to the kitchen (i.e. lots of noise from 6:30am onwards). If you're a heavy sleeper this is a non-issue but be sure to request 2nd floor up if you're a light sleeper who enjoys sleeping in. It is also located right in the middle of the red light district, so I wouldn't stay here with children. If you don't mind being asked to check out live shows every few minutes on yuor way in and out of the hotel, it is located very close to a lot of the sights. The trains are a snap as well. The only other negative note was that the air conditioning seemed to be broken in every room for our entire three night stay. I probably would've asked for a discount. The staff speak perfect english and were very helpful and the rooms were exceptionally comfortable/modern/luxurious (etc).

Excellent”
The hotel is situated just down the street from the Moulin Rouge. There are many stores along the Boulevard de Clichy that sell sex toys and outfits. If that bothers you, it may not be the best location for you. We were fine with it. The location is convenient to everywhere in Paris, and you are in Montmartre! People were rushing along the streets to the metro to get to work, like any other neighborhood in Paris. Great cafes and bakeries in the neighborhood. The staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the cat motifs.

Nice but not 4-star”
Although our room was clean and the desk staff was friendly, we surprised to see that the French travel rating agency had awarded 4 stars to le Chat Noir. Our room was very small, which was a bit of a surprise in a so-called 4-star, and it had no dresser for our belongings. Accordingly, we had to live out of our suitcases for 6 nights! The very small safe was completely useless as it had a complicated locking procedure and was attached to the floor in a corner, impossible to reach without lying on the floor. Rooms facing le Boulevard de Clichy were subjected to the unpleasant noise of loud voices all night long. Closing the windows to keep the noise out meant sleeping in a stuffy room. The hotel had no lobby or gathering area other than the dining room. All of this added up to a most peculiar "4-star"'experience. Last year we stayed around the corner at le Mercure, which definitely deserved its 4 stars, and we will return there again.

Nice, clean and reasonable priced hotel”
I stayed 2 nights at this hotel and I was positively surprised. I haven't been to Paris for a few years so I was not sure what to expect in terms of its location - in the red light district. The area is very clean and a tourist attraction. There is nothing dingy. The hotel is open since 2 years or so, so everything still looks new and clean. I can really recommend this hotel!

Great Boutique Hotel and so glad we stayed there”
Once inside the door the hotel is modern, with larger than expected rooms. Staff very friendly. Close to Metro and hop on hop off bus. Next street behind has excellent food with many little shops serving food from around the world. Would stay there again when in Paris

affordable and simple”
although on the main strip through the red light district, this hotel was better than we expected. room sizes were adequate, although the layout was quite cramped in the common areas. the surrounding suburb of montmarte was beautiful, with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants open till late providing plenty of opportunity to experience parisian nightlife. we stayed for 5 nights and would definitely return.

Very expensive for the location and the level of accomodation. Having said this Paris is expensive and rooms were scarce when I stayed. Property is clean and well maintained and staff are polite.

A mixed experience”
The first 2 nights where unpleasant as the air conditioning had been turned off and could not be turned on again. My room was like an oven and opening the window at night did not help as the street was so noisy all night. The lovely staff then moved me to a room higher up which was cooler and had less noise from the street. I also received free breakfasts for my inconvenience. Top points for the staff but management needs to reconsider their air conditioning policy.
